A Next Best Thing Production for Norwich Theatre in the Parks 1995

A new director and a new direction for Next Best Thing. Our first outdoor production, presented as part of Norwich City Council's Theatre in the Parks Festival, was a boisterous modern version of Sheridan 's classic comedy. A very 1990s spin was placed on proceedings, with the excesses of the wealthy exposed by blackmail and tabloid journalism. Bold, colourful costumes and the brashest of comic acting brought an air of the Carry On films to the production, which proved a big hit with the public at the free venues in the parks of Norwich. Hannah Boulton and Steve Burnell deserve special mention for some seriously villainous performances as Lady Sneerwell and Joseph Surface. Boo and, indeed, hiss. He's behind you.
